The app is great. Here some suggestions for a more complete experience, I'm pretty sure people will be willing to pay you a small fee to get these (premium features):
1. Add a countdown to turn off the lamp, sometimes people want the lamp to be turned on for a certain amount of time then it should turn off itself.
2. Allow people to add a Wake Up time when the lamp turns on automatically, I know that this can be challenging but once users allow the app permissions to manage the phone, you can do the magic.
3. After hitting START the only way you can turn off the lamp is by using the power button, it would be more convenient and intuitive to turn it off by simply touching the screen, as it happens with the demo.
4. Do not close the app when user uses the power button, which as said before in point 3 should be touching the screen.
5. By the way, for point 2, adding an option to include some soothing sound effects would be great. For instance, birds chirping at 7 am with the screen automatically turning on with an initial brightness of 10 and ending with brightness of 40. As the brightness increases the volume should do it progressevily too.

Thank you for your feedback.
I also agree on all your items. Actually I already implemented some of the changes when I created a night light app originally intended for babies/kids (which is based on the reading lamp app) that I added some time ago to the app store ( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.wearefamily.nightlight ).
1.-3. I think these items are already covered within the other app. I plan to also add them back to the reading light app, but unfortunately I currently do not know when I will have time to work on that.
4. Making the power button behavior configurable also seems like a good idea (I suppose only offering an option to enable/disable app exit on that event would be enough).
I personally like the power button option because in my usage scenario I often touched the screen by accident. But this is a personal preference, so having an option there would be good.
5. Actually, I already thought about adding background sound options for the night light app, so you suggestion would play well with that.
In addition, with the added options, I think it would be beneficial if there would be multiple profiles to allow the user to switch between settings.
But: Unfortunately I am currently overwhelmed by other work and do not know when I will have time to work on the app in the near future.
So while I would really like to add improvements right away unfortunately I will have to postpone that for a bit...
But I will contact you once there are changes...
